Music Group
Student Participation was great! We were able to serve 21 students with a beginner's digital music course. Some students worked on making beats, while others wrote songs or poems. We also helped students learn how to use a home studio setup. Students were engaged and worked vigorously on their projects. We completed 7 projects during the 6-week course. We believe that providing a safe learning environment allows our students to commit, and excel in STARS Music is a life group.
Girls Cheer
We welcome All Students ages 4- 18 regardless of skill level. We will use CHEER/DANCE as a vehicle to promote wellness, self-esteem, teamwork and community involvement.GOALS: Our goal is to provide a safe environment for students to learn the art and sport, of Cheer and dance. To produce the best student-athletes that we can, and for our students to pursue Cheer and Dance on a collegiate level.FEES: The Fee is $40 PER child PER month. $250 per year. (The fee is to help offset costs for training, special instructors, competition fees, Uniforms, snacks,)EXPECTATIONS: Parents and Students must Sign a contract and waiver. The contract will explain in full detail what is required from Students and Parents. PRACTICES: Practices are held on Sundays from 230-430pm.ELITE TEAM: There will be an Elite squad selected for those students who are more advanced.
Basketball League
Sign up for our alternative basketball league in Portland, Oregon. At S.T.A.R.S. Mentoring Program, we understand that providing our students with a physical, extracurricular outlet enables them to build vital social and interpersonal skills, and also motivates students/youth academically. Sports can also play a role in a student participating in post-secondary education through scholarships. Approximately 100 high school boys who attend Portland area alternative high schools come together each Friday and play competitive basketball, representing their various schools. There are eight teams in all. We provide mentoring and nutritious dinner. With a family atmosphere, siblings and parents enjoy the weekly event with no fee to spectators.

Community Service
We believe that your level of success is directly connected to who, and what you surround yourself with. "Treat people how you like to be treated" karma is the universal rule. We also believe that community support is vital. Being a contributing part of your community is our goal. We help you reach this goal by having activities that connect us directly with our community. We make lunches and feed the less fortunate, we do fall leave removal for residents in our community. We have an annual basketball event with the PPD. "Bridging the Gap". This is where we have at-risk students paly basketball with our gang task officers. awesome event. Another annual event that we facilitate is "Unity Games" where we have 6 Teams representing their culture in a day basketball tournament in the park.
Young Girls Enrichment
S.T.A.R.S. Mentoring Program Young Women's Discussion/Empowerment GroupYoung women will attend this weekly discussion group to talk about the barriers that they are facing in their everyday lives. The main points of discussion will be “teen dating violence”, “drug abuse”, “Career path” also will have the opportunity to participate in our employment empowerment group, where we work on resumes, job search, and workplace etiquette. We will also set them up with a mentor who will contact them once a week outside of group meetings to provide additional support in helping them create ISP.


Young Mens Discusion Group
What is the purpose of the men's group?to talk about the issue that we face specifically as it pertains to our gender. to support a student in a positive manner and discussing positive ways to get over barriers. Giving students the tools to have success in school, their community, and society as a whole. Giving students a voice despite our differences, every student's feelings are valid; culturally, gender, physical appearance.
